Welcome to YAZA by Tabarak Handmade Jewellery

About YAZA by Tabarak

My name is Yasmin Ziada. I was first introduced to handmade jewellery working with precious metals, semi-precious and precious gemstones in 1986 in Baghdad, Iraq (I was 14 at the time) when my mom use to make jewellery as a hobby. I was fascinated with the gemstones, their colours, shapes, textures and sizes. I would sit mesmerized by their beauty as my mom would create beautiful necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

I loved assisting my mom in her work. One day, as she was designing her new collection I said to her “when I grow up, I’m going to make jewellery or work in fashion!” She laughed and said, “Yes, it’s good to dream…” Now 30 years later, here I am ready to present my artisan jewellery.

I needed to create a brand. I wanted something unique, true and personal to me. After months of failed creative names, I thought of my family and my origin. I decided to use the nickname my brother gave me “YAZA.” But something was missing, I wanted my jewellery to touch people’s lives, bring them joy and special memories… My husband suggested Tabarak. In Arabic, Tabarak means blessings. I thought, this is perfect. YAZA by Tabarak meaning my work that is made and given to you by and with Blessings and love.

As a tribute to my amazing parents who have given me such a privileged life with so much love… To my brother who is my idol, to my Sister-in-Law who has always been there for me and who inspired me to work with jewellery again, and of course, to my better half, my dearest husband, who even through the toughest of times always stood by me. I give you YAZA by Tabarak. I hope you enjoy your jewellery and may it bring you happiness, good fortune and the best of memories.

About my work

I first started working with jewellery in 1986, as an aspiring entrepreneur with my mom. As I was still in school I had to devote most of my time to my studies, so I use to try making my creations in the holidays only. After graduating University, where I majored in English Linguistics, I worked in the United Nations for 6 years, during that time I use to research gemstones and jewellery techniques. I use to practice designing jewellery and bringing my creations to life.

In 2007, I moved to the UK and shortly after I began making jewellery using silver wires. Working with wires opened a whole new world of creations! I fell in love with the structure wire brings to my designs from the simplest to the intricate wirework designs, I began selling some of my designs in the High Street shops. Then in 2009 I was lucky enough to exhibit my designs in Expression Art Gallery for 6 years. Unfortunately, I became very ill and had to stop making jewellery for a while. Now that I’m in better health, I decided to come back to my passion and bring you my creations, but this time through my website.

I hope you enjoy your visit. Thank you for stopping by and I wish you a wonderful day.
